We’re always down for a good deal especially since going out to eat has gotten a little pricey lately so we were happy to stumble upon El Texano on George Dieter near Edgemere in mid- December.

Right at the door, we saw a sign advertising a “2 for $20” special, and honestly, we weren’t expecting much. The special (available daily from 4–8 PM, at least as of a couple weeks ago) includes iced tea, fresh tortillas, two types of meat (we chose steak and asada), large portions of beans and rice, queso fundido, and two baked potatoes all served on one massive platter. Our total came out to around $23, which feels almost unreal considering how much food you get.

And it’s not just a good deal, everything was genuinely excellent. Every item on that plate was 5-star quality, but the tacos in particular stood out. Easily some of the best tacos I’ve had in El Paso in a long time. The meat was flavorful, perfectly cooked, and clearly not an afterthought despite the price.

The portions were so generous that we still walked out with a heavy, fully stuffed to-go container. At a time when dining out keeps getting more expensive, finding a place that delivers this much food, this much quality, and this kind of value is rare.
